Legion Sky-hunter Squadron Kit Review

Well this kit was a long time coming. I preordered a bunch of boxes for my White Scars months ago and they've finally arrived. I'll give a review here of my experiences assembling the kit and the layout of it.

The kit comes with four sprues, three of which are identical for the jetbikes themselves and the final one is essentially just for the riders. It's a hefty enough box. Mouldlines were largely non-existent and the models assembled easily enough without any real issue. The three identical sprues leant well to a production line set up to speed things up. One quirk with the kit is that you cannot glue the back of the jetbike on until after the rider is put in place, so while sub-assemblies for painting aren't impossible, they are awkward.

The kit thankfully gives you a good selection of wargear so you get three of each of the heavy weapons for the bike and three volkite serpentas/hand flamers for the riders. Magnetising the heavy weapons to the bikes is not too difficult. There a decent spread of random bits, holstered weapons, and doo-dads to fill up some of the flat panels. It is however missing any wargear options for the sergeant outside of a chainsword. Even a bolt pistol held like the volkite serpentas/hand flamers is missing. It's not really surprising, but still sad to see.

Thankfully, the models flight stand uses the ball and socket variety and not the awful new one they use on some kits these days.

All in all, these are gorgeous models which were a pleasure to build (and a welcome break from Seraphon). The quality of the casts and sprues are great and if you have an interest in picking them up (if you can find them), then I can heartily recommend.
